Yummy Mangos

When I was first married, I lived in Miami Florida. My husband was working for Eastern Airlines, so we had some great flying benefits. Most first class, round trip flights within the US cost us $10.00. A $55.00 round trip flight to Argentina included hotel, tours, most of our meals and an all day trip to a Goucho Ranch. Needless to say, we did some traveling. But a lot of our trips were back to NJ to visit our families.
Now, I'll get to the mangos.
The home that we purchased in Miami was built on an old mango grove. We had mangos, avacados, grapefruit and key limes growing right in our back yard. I never ate the mangos while I lived there. I never developed a taste for them. But, what I did do was bring bags of them north to our families on the plane when we visited.
I never ate mangos till last weekend at a Thai restaurant. Boy, were they goooood!! So, guess what I've started buying, lots of mangos!! Sure wish I had those trees in my back yard now. I didn't realize what a treasure they were.

Please Comment!!

Well, it's almost time for Summer and I've almost survived my first semester of college for credits.
Now I must finish all the work necessary to complete my courses. There's still some blogging to do to catch up, so I'm going to try to find some subjects of interest, whatever they may be?? I haven't been able to accomplish that yet, but thats understandable, since there's a real generation gap!! I'm hoping to get a response from one of my much younger classmates before ITT is over. I'm begging you all ........... please respond. You'll make my day/semester and all of my old stories will not have been shared in vein!!
Thanks in advance,

Reed Painting Workshop

Just to give you an idea as to the diversity of the AENJ Saturday workshops i'll tell you about the one I attended last Saturday. A professor from Gloucester County College taught us how to paint and draw with reeds in the style of Van Gogh. We made our own quill pens out of bamboo and other dry reeds. Walnut ink, made by soaking and simmering actual walnuts, then straining the liquid/nut mixture to produce a beautiful, dark, sepia ink, was used to draw with our hand cut pens. The professor had provided the ink, since producing it is quite a lengthy process. It was a fun and informative workshop, as usual.
Again, let me know if any of you have an interest in drawing and painting etc. instruction in a relaxed atmosphere and I'll tell you who to contact.

AENJ South Workshops

I don't know if anyone associated with this blog spot is aware that there is an organization called Art Educators of New Jersey. Anyone interested in attending their workshops can join this organization for a $5.00 yearly fee. Each Spring and fall there are about four or five art workshops given on Saturdays. Each workshop usually runs from 9:00 am till 3:00 pm. The cost is $30.00 for the day and includes breakfast and lunch. Most of the workshops are held at Gloucester County College, but some are held at other facilities. I've been attending these workshops for quite a while and find them very interesting and enjoyable. I've done everything from glass casting at Wheaton Village to book and paper making from pulp. Teacher/Professors receive continuing education credits when they participate in the workshops.
So any one interested can contact me via this blog for more information.

Polka Dancing!!

I love Polka Dancing!!!
Don't laugh, it's fun. From the ages of seventeen till twenty four, I was a Polish folk dancer with a group of Polish college students. We belonged to The Polish Intercollegiate Club of Philadelphia. We were the PKM (it's Polish and too long to translate) Dancers.
It was a fun group of young college students and we performed at many wonderful functions. The highlight of my folk dance days was when our group tried out for the Ted Mack Original Amateur Hour, the equivalent of today's America's Got Talent (your grandparents will probably remember the show). We made the cut and got to go to New York and perform on TV. We actually got enough votes to come back a second time. We did not win again, but it was fun. We got to meet and hang out with lots of musicians from many states those days.
I still am happiest when I hear, and dance to, my favorite Polka Bands. It's in my blood and keeps me feeling young.
I'll be a Polish Princess Forever!!!

Playing Blog Catch-Up

I have to admit, blogging isn't very much fun if no one but yourself is reading what you've written!! I guess I have to think of this as journaling.
My Easter was fun. I spent the day at my daughter and son in law's home in West Chester Pa.
The best part of being there is the special time I get to spend with Ryan and Eric, my grandsons. They call me Baci, that's Polish for grandmother. Eric will be two in May, such a cute age. Ryan will be five in July and he teaches me all sorts of new things like video games and Legos, he thinks I'm very creativeness!!
These little guys truly are the loves of my life. I never dreamed that being a grandparent would be such a wonderful thing. I always wondered why my friends could not wait to have grandchildren, now I know what they meant; It's almost like being in a secret society!!

Algebritis!!

Trying to understand the language of Algebra has given me this horrible disease!!
Headaches, nausea, muscle aches, and bouts of deep depression are just some of the symptoms associated with this illness.
The recommended cures are math labs and tutors. Easier said than done. These remedies have not worked for me. I'm told that my problem has something to do with this right-brain, left-brain stuff. Apparently, my brain is the opposite of what it should be in order to be able to master this complicated, mathematical, language. Since I can't trade this old brain in for the correct type, and Rosetta Stone doesn't offer algebra as a second language, my next best option is to try again to master this strange, difficult, language at Camden County College this Summer. Maybe it'll work for me this time. Perhaps a different Professor can work their magic with me and my brain???
Wish me luck, I need it!!
