Yummy Mangos

When I was first married, I lived in Miami Florida. My husband was working for Eastern Airlines, so we had some great flying benefits. Most first class, round trip flights within the US cost us $10.00. A $55.00 round trip flight to Argentina included hotel, tours, most of our meals and an all day trip to a Goucho Ranch. Needless to say, we did some traveling. But a lot of our trips were back to NJ to visit our families.
Now, I'll get to the mangos.
The home that we purchased in Miami was built on an old mango grove. We had mangos, avacados, grapefruit and key limes growing right in our back yard. I never ate the mangos while I lived there. I never developed a taste for them. But, what I did do was bring bags of them north to our families on the plane when we visited.
I never ate mangos till last weekend at a Thai restaurant. Boy, were they goooood!! So, guess what I've started buying, lots of mangos!! Sure wish I had those trees in my back yard now. I didn't realize what a treasure they were.

  1. You were so lucky to have fresh fruit growing in your back yard. Your fruit sounds a little exotic. I didn't know that mangos could grow in the US. I love mangos, avacados and grapefuite. Is that hose still available : >

Our parents moved us around when we were kids (in 1492), 2 of the houses we lived in had a differents fruit growing in the back yard. One had lemons and grapes and the other had kumquats. If you wanted to make lemonade all you had to was go out and pick them.
